This Burfee Truffles recipe by Reezwanah Seedat is a fun and indulgent twist on a classic sweet. Rich, bite-sized, and full of flavour, these truffles are perfect for gifting, celebrations, or whenever you’re in the mood for a little treat.

Ingredients

500g Klim Milk Powder

125g Butter

290g Nestle Dessert Cream

1 cup White Sugar

1 cup Icing Sugar

1 cup Water

1 tsp Cardamom (Elachie) Powder

1 tsp Rose Essence

1 tsp Cardamom Essence

2 tbs Almond Powder

Chocolate, melted for dipping

Coloured almonds, coloured sprinkles, dessicated coconut to decorate

Method

  1. In a bowl, combine the milk powder and half tin nestle cream. Rub together till it resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Take small amounts of this mixture and press through a sieve and set aside.
  3. On low heat, combine water, butter and sugars in a pot, stir and allow to thicken.
  4. Slowly add the liquid to the sieved milk powder mixture. Mix well.
  5. Allow to set overnight. (It’s not necessary to refrigerate but perhaps in the hot summer months you may need to.)
  6. Add cardamom, rose, almond powder to the overnight set burfee mixture and beat till well combined.
  7. Add the other half of the nestle cream and beat.
  8. Allow to set for an hour or so.
  9. Once burfee has set, form medium sized rounds dip in melted chocolate decorate as desired.
