This Burfee Truffles recipe by Reezwanah Seedat is a fun and indulgent twist on a classic sweet. Rich, bite-sized, and full of flavour, these truffles are perfect for gifting, celebrations, or whenever you’re in the mood for a little treat.
Ingredients

500g Klim Milk Powder
125g Butter
290g Nestle Dessert Cream
1 cup White Sugar
1 cup Icing Sugar
1 cup Water
1 tsp Cardamom (Elachie) Powder
1 tsp Rose Essence
1 tsp Cardamom Essence
2 tbs Almond Powder
Chocolate, melted for dipping
Coloured almonds, coloured sprinkles, dessicated coconut to decorate
Method
- In a bowl, combine the milk powder and half tin nestle cream. Rub together till it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Take small amounts of this mixture and press through a sieve and set aside.
- On low heat, combine water, butter and sugars in a pot, stir and allow to thicken.
- Slowly add the liquid to the sieved milk powder mixture. Mix well.
- Allow to set overnight. (It’s not necessary to refrigerate but perhaps in the hot summer months you may need to.)
- Add cardamom, rose, almond powder to the overnight set burfee mixture and beat till well combined.
- Add the other half of the nestle cream and beat.
- Allow to set for an hour or so.
- Once burfee has set, form medium sized rounds dip in melted chocolate decorate as desired.
