Green Chutney

Green chutney is a staple in many Indian households. It’s fresh, bold flavour works well with the spices in Indian food and is often an accompaniment to snacks like samoosas, pies. Mixed with a bit of tomato sauce, it goes well with burgers and hotdogs too. 

 

Ingredients

Ingredients in bold available at The Spice Emporium.

3 cups roughly chopped coriander (dhania)

4 green chillies, roughly chopped (If sensitive to chilli, reduce quantity)

± 1½ tsp lemon juice

½ green pepper, chopped

salt to taste

water

optional: 2 tbs dried peanuts, skin removed

 

Method

  1. In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth.

  2. Add a little water if too thick.

Serve with samoosas, soya, toasted sandwiches etc.

 

Storage

Keep refrigerated in an airtight container. If extra, freeze and defrost when needed.
